Family-friendly Activities in Cape Town

You may have heard about Cape Town’s nightlife and all the amazing bars to visit. But what if you want to take a family trip to the city and are much too old for clubbing? Along with all the activities suited more for students, Cape Town has an abundance of other activities that will provide great experiences for anyone.

The Company’s Garden

The Company’s Garden is a great place for both children and adults. Aside from the beautiful gardens, both you and the children will get a great experience from feeding squirrels. You can buy a small bag of nuts and get squirrels to walk right up to you, maybe even sit on your leg, and eat the small snack that you give them.

Scratch Patch

The Scratch Patch is yet another way for both you and your children to become immersed in the gemstones of South Africa and the world. It not only feels great to pick out some beautiful stones that appeal to you but actually searching through the stones that cover the floors is somewhat therapeutic and relaxing. You can find the scratch patch right by the V&A Waterfront.

The Clay Café

At The Clay Café in Hout Bay, you and the children can choose from a variety of crockery items to paint. You can let your imaginations run wild while you decorate the items and keep them as functional memorabilia for the future. Once you have finished creating your art pieces, they are all dishwasher safe, microwave proof and oven-proof.

Rush Trampoline Park

As if simply jumping around on a trampoline isn’t enough, Rush Trampoline Park has an entire floor covered in trampolines. Apart from being able to just go and jump on the trampolines, you can take part in a variety of other activities such as jumping into the foam pit, playing dodgeball or going for some creative slam dunks in the basketball lanes.

The Vineyard Hotel

The Vineyard Hotel has a lovely restaurant that you can eat at, as well as award-winning gardens to wander around in. Children can feel adventurous as they run along the various paths and see the massive tortoises that stroll around the gardens, and you can enjoy the relaxing setting with a beautiful view of Table Mountain while you sip on a cup of tea or even a cocktail.

World of Birds

If you are looking for something to educate you on a variety of animals as well as get you up close, World of Birds and Monkey Sanctuary is the perfect place. This four-hectare bird and animal park has over 3000 birds and animals, with 400 different species. There is also a squirrel monkey aviary where the adorable little monkeys can climb on you and play around you. It’s not just a great place to go an look at the animals but a great potential learning experience too.

With so much on offer in Cape Town, there is no reason not to visit with your family. Aside from the activities that we have mentioned, there are numerous other places to see and things to do in the wonderful city. Plan your next trip as soon as you can, the city is yours to explore.
